The AIRPOWER 2013 beats all the records – grandiose atmosphere at Europe’s best air show. As main host, Flo Rudig guides through the program. It is an airy spectacle of major dimensions: around 200 aircraft, 250 pilots, and more than 300,000 enthusiastic fans. “If there are even more people on an air show than horsepower in the air, you’ve got the goosebumps coming,” airpower spokesman Flo Rudig enthused, in his role as main host, who informs and entertains the masses. At his side, the squadron commander of the Eurofighters, Roland Miedler, is also commenting, while the Ö3 mic man, Tom Walek, prowls the airfield as fan reporter.
The absolute mood highlight: After the jet spectacle of the famous Italian squadron “Frecce Tricolori,” Flo Rudig and Tom Walek choreograph the largest flash mob in Austria. More than 150,000 people jump and dance to the flyer song. The Austrian armed forces – along with Red Bull and the province of Styria as the organizers of airpower – are enthusiastic: “This mood tops everything we have seen before!” Every minute, rattles and bangs fill the skies overhead: Fighter jets and helicopters, transport aircraft and vintage planes – the armed forces show the interception of an aircraft with two Eurofighters. Another highlight: The Red-Bull-Stratos jumper, Felix Baumgartner, presents his capsule and his space suit for the first time on European soil and spends hours signing autographs. “These are the moments I won’t forget,” said ROODIXX frontman Flo Rudig, “when weeks of preparation discharge into such a spectacle – a precision landing!”
